Development Works, not Development Talk.
Where SocialWorks 193 stands on programme strategy, compliance, evidence and participation across the non-governmental sector — and how we help organisations turn them into programmes that work.

Pragmatism. Partnership. Participation.
OUR AIM: PROGRAMMES THAT WORK
Evidence. Participation. Focus.
Our aim is simple: programmes that deliver measurable results for the people they serve. Too often, priorities follow donor attention rather than community needs, evaluations justify past choices instead of informing the next ones, and the people most affected are not in the room when decisions are made.
We work as a partner, not a distant auditor. We build from what the evidence shows in each context, put participants at the centre, and scale only what proves out.
WHAT DEVELOPMENT WORKS MEANS
Funding is tightening and shifting at once. Official development assistance has fallen by around 34% in real terms, by around 40% in Sub-Saharan Africa, and German ODA by close to 38% (OECD).
Regulatory, safeguarding and reporting requirements are growing across EU, US, Gulf and multilateral funders while budgets shrink. Donors say they expect genuine participation, and 25% of funding is formally committed to local actors, yet actual delivery remains a low single digit share (Publish What You Fund, 2025).
That gap is a funding and reputational risk, not just a values gap. Instruments tied to outcomes, such as impact bonds and blended finance, are moving into the mainstream and reward organisations that can evidence results rather than report activities.
Development Works is our practice built around the programme cycle: strategy, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning.
Budgets shrink. Expectations grow. Results are the new currency.
OUR POSITION, IN ONE LINE
Pragmatism over dogma.
Partnership over oversight.
Participation over assumption.
That is the position we take into every Development Works engagement, and the one we intend to hold.

OUR SERVICES AT A GLANCE
Every engagement starts with Diagnose, a short assessment of one to two weeks. Design and Implement are optional, and you can pause between phases at any point.
Start small. Earn trust. Then scale what proves out.
What makes this rare is the background behind it: more than four decades of executive leadership across international management consulting, financial services, corporate governance and major international non-profits. We do not enter as outside auditors, but bring the operational, financial and political fluency to sit inside an organisation's hardest decisions as a genuine partner, anywhere in the world.
